The Reykjavik Edition

The view from the roof top of The Reykjavik Edition

A True Gem

The Reykjavik Edition hotel is a league of its own, it has “sisters” all over the world, perhaps most famous it The Edition in London. It is a boutique hotel with many facilities such as 3 bars, 2 restaurants, a café, a spa and (most importantly) amazing staff. We literally felt welcome from the moment we sat our feet on the hotel grounds and everyone gave us the highest level of service and presence from reception to the maids we met in the hall way.

For a girlfriend trip to Iceland, we chose the Reykjavík Edition hotel.

The location of the hotel is by the harbour were it is neighbouring the new concert hall and is just a stone through away from both Reykjavik downtown and the famous rainbow pedestrian street, the Hallgrimskirkja and also the old fishing house turned into restaurants and tiny shops along the harbour side.

Conveniently The Edition offers valet parking (for a fee of 45 euros per night) in the underground parking garage.

We especially enjoyed the “casual menu card” in the bar of the restaurant. The rest of the restaurant offers a more of a fine dining experience. But we were just so tired after full days of exploring the nature, so for us it was just perfect hanging in the bar in the nice restaurant having lobster dogs and truffle fries and good wine.

Also the small cafe inside the hotel made so much sense, it offered freshly baked cakes, delicious sandwiches, various drinks and great coffee. We did enjoy a full buffet breakfast as well the first days we stayed, however, crabbing a cinnamon roll a coffee takeaway and a vege sandwich for the road was just so convenient.

At first we didn’t think much of the spa, as we had such a good experience visiting hot springs facilities, but on the day of going home, we were so tired and even though the spa is not available on your check-out day, they made an exception for us and for that we were very thankful. Just because wauw, what a spa; a beautiful spa lounge with a spa bar (now that’s a first), great hamam spa and such nice staff greeted us like a warm hug. Don’t, don’t do the spa when visiting this hotel.

The roof top bar was nice, but what was nicer was the “secret” Tolt bar (behind the lobby bar) exclusively for the hotel guests only with a special password to be allowed to enter and a very fancy drinks card. Definitely worth a shout out.

We literally had one of our best hotel stays ever at the The Reykjavik Edition – thank you for having us.

Ps. Just have to mention that the beds were SO good, and that is usually not a comment I generously spread.

Not the best view the hotel had to offer, but honestly we were hardly in the room, as we were on the roads all day long
