Best boutique hotel in Canggu.
The slow hotel is high fashion meets laid-back surf culture at The Slow, from the photography that decorates the walls and the 1970s beach beats that play throughout the property, to the meticulous design that has gone into every touch point. It’s perfectly pitched for the vibe in Canggu, Bali’s cool boho beach town.
The owner George Gorrow, is a former fashion designer, turned his hand to interiors for this project to beautiful effect. Entrance from the street is via the restaurant, an industrial-chic space with smooth concrete flooring, Scandi-style dining tables and tropical flora hanging in terracotta pots. Everything from the furniture to the crockery was designed especially for the place.
It’s a small hotel (12 rooms), so on-site facilities are fairly limited, but Canggu has everything you could want – shopping, tour operators, spas, bike hire, yoga studio, beach – within a five-minute walk.
And I also have to mention the restaurant on the ground floor, because it is one of the hottest spots in town, and serves elegantly prepared small plates of Indonesian-inspired food. Not pricy at all, but tasty and good for sharing.
