One of our favourite artist has her own museum in Tokyo.
The Yayoi Kusama Museum opened 1st of October 2017 and is dedicated to the art of the amazing avant garden artist of that same name. Kusama is most know for her dots (on everything, but especially pumpkins). The museum is located in the area of Shinjuku and is easy to find.
It has 4 floors and holds two main long-running exhibitions a year. It is a very small museum. Even though it has 4 floors, it holds a very small amount of her works, and we don’t regret going, however, to be honest we were a little disappointed with the size and range of works. Nonetheless it is worth going. Just go with a little less expectation than us and you will be fine.
NB! It is only allowed to take pictures on the 1st and 5th floor (roof terrace).
To visit you must book tickets in advance (tickets open for bookings 3 months at the time): Yayoi Kusama Museum
