Welcome to Osaka

We came to Osaka for the famous street food.

We heard that the people of Osaka spend more on food than on anything else, and the term “kuidaore” (“eat until you drop”) is used to describe the food culture here. All the great food of Japan is suppose to have origin in Osaka.

Even though Osaka is on the top ten of the biggest cities in the world and is has a lot to offer, we literally just came for the famous food.

The street food area of Osaka is huge (Dotonbori), most larger than we could ever imagine, and the selection is equally large. Especially the small streets behind the main food stall streets are exciting and almost has a “Diagon Alley” (Harry Potter reference) feel to them.

From the amazing landscapes and zen of Shikoku to Osaka was a big contrast. We met with some friends here in Osaka and the kids were so happy and also brave to try out a lot of the very different food.
