There is just something about Mary…

High above the landscape, with breathtaking views of the Øresund, lies the Mary Hill Estate – a boutique hotel that combines relaxed luxury with modern design and scenic surroundings. Located on the former historic estate of Örbrön, the place is made for those seeking a high level of aesthetics and an experience where time and pace are allowed to merge.

The hotel has been carefully renovated through three years and have several areas, each offering something unique – from intimate suites to rooms with direct views of the hotel’s impressive pools. With magnificent terrace areas, open horizons and a luxurious yet relaxed atmosphere, you get the feeling of a resort-like experience, but still with the personal charm of a boutique hotel.

The restaurant draws references from Southern Europe, and here it is not about fine dining, but about honest and tasty food in a “family-sharing-style”, where dishes are served for sharing in informal but stylish surroundings – perfect for long lunches and warm evenings on the terrace.

For those who want to completely relax, the pool club, Sugar Club -as it is called because the original owner earned his weath from a succesful sugar business, is a natural gathering point. Here you can take a dip in the large pool, relax on a comfortable lounge bed by one of the three heated outdoor pools or enjoy a cocktail in the sun while lounge music plays in the background. Everything at “Maries bakke” has been done with attention to even the smallest detail, and it’s only a short trip over the bridge, but far enough away to feel like you’re in a completely different place.

We went for a small couples weekend getaway, however, there are plans to build family bungalows on the grunds as well, and I am sure our kids would absolutely love a trip some time during the summer. Either way, it is definitely a place we would love to come back to. The value of what you get for your Danish kroners over there is incredible. And I have to add, it is literally just 1 hour (door-to-door) away from Copenhagen…no travel time also counts for a lot, rest assured.
