The five ‘mountains’ are named after the five elements; Kim (metal), Thuy (water), Moc (wood), Hoa (fire) and Tho (earth). In the mountains are several Buddhist and Hindu sanctuaries inside caves and tunnels featuring statuary and relief depictions of religious scenes carved out of the marble.
We did not really know what to expect from The Marble Mountains. Our Lonely Planet book did not offer much description and the tour was honestly a bit spontaneous…
However, it was truly a unique and amazing place. Quit a large area to cover – we could easily have spend several hours – but this day (again) was just SO hot, so we didn’t get to cover it all.
The girls loved the caves – and so did we – and the scenery of the cave areas made us (B&C) feel that we were in an Indiana Jones movie (bonus)…
Imponerende. Dette harvi ikke set. Vi er i Gl. Skagen. Det er smukt med de røde tage. I formiddags gik vi langs Skagerak. I eftermiddag langs Vesterhavet ( Nordsøen) . Elsker jo at trave langs vand.
Det er så dejlig at følge jer på denne måde.
