In Danang on the Son Tra Peninsula you find the marble statue of Bodhisattva of Mercy, also known as Lady Buddha.
This Lady Buddha is 67 meters high (the highest nationwide) and is carved out of one (giant) piece of marble from head to toe.
We are on the road again – moving even further south. On the way we are stopping to see a couple of important sights. We were very lucky that today was cloudy. The temperature is 35 degrees and when the sun is out it is really really hot. The Lady Buddha was a very impressive sight, and the ‘she’ is actually part of a bigger complex, named Linh Ung Pagoda. The beautiful pagoda built on the hillside of Monkey Mountain overlooks the central courtyard and faces a giant three door gate. From there you can gaze over the ocean with its many fishing boats and see Da Nang and Marble mountains in the distance.
I’ve never heard of this place before. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. It looks stunning.
