The Tenryuji Temple

The Tenryuji Temple was build in 1339 and is today a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Tenryuji is the most important temple in Kyoto’s Arashiyama district and is registred as aUNESCO World Heritage Site. Tenryuji is the head temple of its own school within the Rinzai Zen sect of Japanese Buddhism. Both the temple and the garden are very unique and beautiful.

Together with the Bamboo Grove, temple and garden we spend half a day exploring and finding zen at our first visit to a Japanese temple.
