Year 79 AD

Pompei is a UNESCO world heritage site and it is truly something unique. Both Bjørn and I (not so much the girls) were in awe of how developed and well-organised the Romans had been back more than 2000 years ago.

Pompei was buried in ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in year 79 AD. for 1000 years it was under the ashes before any archaeological work was done and to this date only 1/3 of the city has been discovered.
