SPIS

All about unpretentious good food.

This hidden gem is for food lovers of Nordic cuisine.

It was recommended to me by Søren Jepsen, who runs the travel guide 12Hrs together with his girlfriend Anna (I recommend checking it out). And it was such a good experience, that I never would have found on my own.

The restaurant only has 18 seatings, so reservation is needed in order to try this out.

There is only two menu options – a short or a long tasting menu – keeping it simple. Chefs Antero Aurivuo and Perttu Jokinen are in the tiny kitchen preparing with with ingredients from the local the market. A wine menu can be pared as well, or you can have something by the glass, if you prefer that option instead.

The atmosphere is low key and very unpretentious.

“Spis” is a word that is in all the Nordic countries…just with a different pronunciation…it means eat.
