Butterfly Park

The largest butterfly park in Asia is located in Bali. It is a butterfly and insect conservation facility which exhibits a number of specimens throughout the park grounds. We stopped by the butterfly park on our way to the northern region of the island through Tabanan going to Jatiluwih rice fields.

The girls were over the moon, and we saw colourful protected specimens such as the birdwing, Bali peacock and the majestic paradise birdwing. There are also other insects on display including scorpions, stick insects, spiders and beetles.

Although not a large park, it is nice for families or butterfly fans as it is spacious and well planned. Kids will be able to see butterflies as they cocoon and emerge as beautiful butterflies. Especially this part is interesting and the butterflies only hours old can be observed and held.

Interesting is also the beautiful cocoons. Some of them were like pure gold, which held the brown butterlfies. Some looked like old leaves and “housed” the most amazing blue butterflies.

The park also has a small shop were stuffed butterflies in frames can be brought with certificate. We bought 2 frames for the girls to bring back to their rooms.

Entry is 88,000 IDR per adult. Half price for children. No website, however the address is:  Jl. Batukaru, Br.Sandan Lebah, Kabupaten TABANAN, Tabanan, Bali 82115
