At Naoshima we stayed in an yurt at the very beach where the iconic Yayoi Kusama yellow pumpkin is located.
We wanted to stay as close to the art as possible, so went tried something new and booked an yurt on the beach location of where the giant yellow Kusama pumpkin is located on a small pier.
It was a little hot to stay in a yurt without aircon. However, so much fun staying in a yurt and such a unique location right on the beach. If we where to come back, we would get one of the small cottages instead (with air con and private bathroom). But booking months in advance is necessary as the camping space is very small. (Apparently) breakfast is available upon request, towels can be rented (cheap) in the reception hot water cost 100 yen (1 euro) – so bring coins.
The Benesse House is also located on this beach, which makes a visit to its amazing sculpture park very easy (not to be missed).
