Monopoli

A visit to Monopoli (the city, not the board game ;-).

The neighbor town of Polignano A Mare is Monopoli. The town is born of the sea and lives of the sea, making the harbour very important – the city walls to protect the city too. The old town is the interesting part of Monopoli with narrow streets, charming squares and beautiful churches.

We went for a little “taste” of it all today, which made for the perfect half-day-trip. We would have ended up with a swim at the tiny beach right next to the harbour area, however the girls didn’t want to go into the water when we got there, so instead we ended up at a small square with a playground and some sandwiches from the local deli.

Then we went further south, to Ostuni.
