We are very fond of open air museums. Pilane was not to be missed.

The Pilane Sculpture Park in all its glory is only open May-September. However, the park can still be enjoyed off-season as well and the Anna sculpture, by the artist Jaume Plensa, is part of the permanent exhibition, and works as a landmark for Tjörn and this area.

It is visible from the open sea on the west coast and large parts of the Bohuslän archipelago, Anna is a welcoming landmark ment to radiate kindness and compassion.

Recently archaeological excavations have revealed that Pilane is a historic settlement and burial place. In the prehistoric grave-field surroundings, the sculpture exhibition has been displaying art works by leading artists from all over the world since 2007. New works of art are presented each summer. It is very much worth a visit.
